Android 6.0 Marshmallow update: Lenovo K3 Note to get Android M update soon

While an upcoming mobile platform from Google is already in the works, some flagships and mobile devices are yet to get the current Android M update. Fans of the Lenovo K3 Note, however, are expected to get the Marshmallow update anytime soon.

According to GSM Arena, the release of Android Marshmallow for the Lenovo K3 Note is imminent, as some of the users in India have already received an OTA notification for the update. However, the update is the original Android 6.0 version, not the current Android 6.0.1, and for the K3 Note, the build number that users will get is K50a40_S322_160314_ROW.

The update will be automatic via an over-the-air notification, but users of the global version of the Lenovo K3 Note can check if Android Marshmallow is ready for their device by refreshing the System Update tab on the Settings > About Phone options on the smartphone. Meanwhile, although the update can be received on both WiFi and mobile data, the former is more practical as the Android M update comes in at 1657 MB.

The Android Marshmallow update for the Lenovo K3 Note follows a tease earlier this year by Anuj Sharma, Lenovo product manager for India.

Android Authority observes that as the Lenovo K3 Note is not a flagship device, this means that Android Marshmallow is rolling out to all of Android-run devices that support the new platform. However, the release itself is slow. Although Google released Android 6.0 last year, some flagships received the update only recently, while some devices are still running previous Android versions.

Meanwhile, updating the Lenovo K3 Note is timely as a series follow-up is already in the horizon. Unveiled early this year, the upcoming successor to the K3 Note, the Lenovo K4 Note, is expected for a global release next month.
