The forthcoming Agricultural Christian Fellowship conference will see delegates explore the possibilities open for farming and members of Britain’s extensive farming community.
The conference, entitled “What future for farming and farming people?”, will take place in Tamworth, Staffordshire, on Saturday 19 November and aims to take a deeper look at the huge changes facing farming.
Participants will discuss the effects of these changes in farming on the people working in the agricultural industry, their families and their livelihoods, as well as explore ways in which they can continue to work in the industry whilst fulfilling their calling.
The conference will not feature presentations or long speeches, but is rather designed as an opportunity for participants to state their own concerns, with the opportunity to put questions to a diverse panel representing some of the key influences in the farming and rural scene.
Panel members include Rev. Dr. Stuart Burgess, Chairman of the Countryside Agency and former Chair of the York and Hull Methodist District, Tom Oliver, Head of Rural Policy at the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), Jack Ward, Regional Director, National Farmers’ Union (NFU), East Midlands Region, and Suzie Wilkinson, farmer and Coordinator for Farm Crisis Network (FCN) Somerset Group.
Dr Peter Carruthers, Chairman of the Agricultural Christian Fellowship, a membership of organisations of Christians in farming and all aspects of the agricultural industry, will also give a closing address.
