Xbox updates: New update rolling out in the coming weeks, include Arena, Party Overlay, and other fan-requested features

One of the upcoming updates for Xbox is the Arena Killer Instinct Microsoft

Microsoft is rolling out a major update for Xbox One expected to come out soon.

On Monday, Scott Henson, Xbox Partner Group program manager, shared on Xbox Wire that more features are coming to Xbox One, including Party overlay, an expansion of the Arena that will allow players to join Killer Tournaments, and other fan-requested activities.

For the Arena, players can participate in battles or create their own tournament.

For those who prefer to do the former, they can register and play either in the official or user-generated competitions in the different clubs across Xbox One and Windows 10. They will be notified if they can already play and they also get to enjoy real time updates through the activity feeds.

On the other hand, Club Owners and administrators can host their own tournaments. Players who are interested to try this will need to download the Xbox beta application on their personal computer and clock on the "tournaments" tab to proceed. From there, they need to select "create tournament" and fill in the information needed before publishing the event.

As for the Party Overlay, players will now have an easier time to track and communicate with the rest of the party through its multitasking features. In the new feature, players can identify who is speaking from their party members without the need to open the Guide. To use this, players simply need to go to the guide and activate overlay. When someone is speaking, the screen will show a gamer tag. Otherwise, it will remain invisible.

Meanwhile, for the fan-requested features, Microsoft launched some minor updates including the option to share "looking for group" post in the activity feed or message and unfollow a club. Players can also filter their activity feeds on the Xbox application for iOS and Android platforms, as well as have more visibility in one's profile.

Other features also include enhancement in the Beam and Twitch broadcast, where players can be located through Kinect automatically; Captive Portal, for ease of use when using public internet; and the additional option to choose the audio input and output sources for Party Chat.

No specific date has been committed yet, but the changes are expected to be launched "in the coming weeks."
