WWE is quickly preparing for its upcoming SummerSlam event which may see big fights such as John Cena against AJ Styles and the return of Brock Lesnar. However, a report from Fox Sports also reveals that the WWE is attempting to negotiate with the UFC to bring in UFC competitor Paige VanZant, at least for SummerSlam.
The report confirms that VanZant's manager, Mike Roberts, has stated that the WWE has approached them to allow the famed UFC fighter to appear at Summerslam although no further details were released. It is unclear if the negotiations had reached a decision and if VanZant would even be allowed to fight.
Even if VanZant is signed on to appear there is no guarantee she will fight. There are possibilities she will simple serve as a celebrity referee, ring-side host or will merely make an appearance to taunt some of the wrestlers. Given her status as a UFC icon, however, speculations are high that she will be fighting in the ring if a deal is signed.
As stated by MMAMania the UFC is no stranger to crossing over with the WWE. Back in 2015 Ronda Rousey appeared in Wrestlemania 31 alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and it was previously reported that Brock Lesnar is being allowed to fight at UFC 200 so long as the UFC promotes this year's SummerSlam.
It is also noted that VanZant has been able to step out of the ring for other shows. Most recently she has appeared on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" where she finished second place, earning a lot of high scores and accolades along the way.
VanZant will not be switching to the WWE however as the report points out she had just signed a new contract with the UFC several months ago.
WWE SummerSlam is scheduled to take place this Aug. 21.
