WWE Money in the Bank 2016 predictions say AJ Styles will defeat John Cena

WWE Money in the Bank - John Cena vs AJ Styles WWE

The WWE has confirmed on their official site that John Cena and AJ Styles will finally meet up for a one-on-one match in the upcoming WWE Money in the Bank event this year. This follows Styles' sudden betrayal when he, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson suddenly turned against Cena right after Cena delivered his comeback speech.

According to the official post, this will be Cena's biggest challenge in his career given that Styles is identified as one of the most prominent wrestlers in WWE's "New Era" of wrestling but also because Cena is still suffering from shoulder injuries.

Cena underwent surgery back in January due to a torn rotator cuff. Loose tissue from his shoulder had to be removed and the wrestler had to go through weeks of rigorous training and rehabilitation to be deemed fit for competition.

Despite the odds stacking against his favor, Cena released a post via Twitter teasing the fans of the fight to come.

According to a report from Cage Side Seats, the fight between Cena and Styles has been in the works for some time and was the WWE's set-up to celebrate Cena's return to the ring. However, although the spotlight is in Cena's favor it is still speculated by fans that he will lose in this initial match.

Fans speculate that Styles is being designed as a heel or a villain. Cena, who is often marketed by the WWE as a fan favorite and all-around hero, may lose to Styles during this year's Money in the Bank but then makes a successful rebound when he beats Styles in a bigger event later this year.

Heels are often used in wrestling to highlight another wrestler's career and this may be what WWE is doing with Styles in order to highlight Cena's return.

WWE Money in the Bank will be held this June 19.
