Microsoft's Windows 10 platform is a long way from reaching its official release date, but the latest leak reported by Gizchina states that Chinese smartphone makers such Xiaomi and ZTE are expected to have their handsets running the software giant's 'unified interface' operating system. According to GSMArena, rising smartphone tech company Xiaomi and its previous generation flagship smartphone, the Mi 4 was recently shown to be running the Windows 10, operating system.

The website has also stated that ZTE's Nubia 9 will also be shown running the aforementioned platform. The company's Nubia 9 has yet to be officially announced, but since the device is expected to be the firm's flagship smartphone, it will most likely be incorporated with Qualcomm's Snadpragon 810 chipset, the same chipset currently present in the Xiaomi Note Pro.

Microsoft's current lineup of Windows Phones carry entry level to mid-performing hardware specifications in order to cater to budget smartphone consumers. The company has not yet released a smartphone in 2015 carrying high end specifications so it is possible that it is relying on the flagship devices belonging to Xiaomi and ZTE to test out beta versions of its Windows Phone operating system. While Microsoft's Lumia 640 XL, a handset that was announced alongside the Lumia 640 during the MWC, is expected to get a hardware upgrade that will increase the processor's clock speed to 2.2 GHz and RAM value to 2 GB, only consumers living in China can take advantage of the upgraded variant.

Xiaomi and ZTE have not yet commented whether or not the Mi 4 or the upcoming Nubia 9 will be available running the Microsoft OS but seeing as how the platform is capable of running on these handsets, it is a proposal that both companies will be looking to consider in the near future.
