'Warcraft' movie trailer to be shown July 11 at SDCC 2015

Warcraft movie poster Legendary Pictures

After years of waiting, the "Warcraft" movie is finally coming out, and according to a report from Entertainment Weekly, the film's first trailer will be unveiled this Saturday, July 11, at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Legendary Pictures will reportedly take up shop at the event's Hall H and give a grand presentation for three of their films: Guillermo del Toro's "Crimson Peak"; Mike Dougherty's "Krampus"; and Duncan Jones' "Warcraft." The report also cites that "Warcraft" will have a "big unveiling" which many speculate to be the film's first official trailer.

At the time of writing, very few have seen the film's footage. As cited by a report from IGN, a very brief sizzle reel was shown to a limited audience back at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2013. This footage was never released to the public. The 2014 Comic-Con also showed a few extra teasers which, again, were not released outside the walls of Hall H.

The upcoming trailer, if it does get shown on July 11, will be the first time that the general public will get a look at the film beyond teaser images and early-release posters.

Robert Kazinsky as Orgrim Doomhammer in Warcraft Legendary Pictures

Thus far, the only official image of the film released by Legendary Pictures is a shot of Robert Kazinsky as the orc warrior Orgrim Doomhammer and this was back in May.

"Warcraft" has been in development for several years and was even once going to be helmed by "Spider-Man" director Sam Raimi. This didn't push through until "Moon" and "Source Code" director Duncan Jones landed the job and filming began in January 2013 and ended in May of the same year. The film has since been in post-production.

The film's cast includes "Vikings" star Travis Fimmell, Tobey Kebell, Paula Patton, Dominic Cooper, Robert Kazinsky, and Ben Foster. It tells the tale of the first war between orcs and humans.

"Warcraft" will open in theaters nationwide on June 10, 2016.
