'Voltron: Legendary Defender' news: First trailer released

Voltron: Legendary Defender DreamWorks Animation, Netflix

Netflix is primarily known for their live-action originals such as "House of Cards" and "Orange Is the New Black," but the streaming network is also making an effort on all fronts, including original animation series. Case in point, the streaming network has just released the first teaser trailer for "Voltron: Legendary Defender."

The trailer was first revealed during this year's Wonder Con before it was made available online. The trailer can now be viewed on multiple streaming sites such as YouTube. While short at just one minute long, it does reveal the cel-shaded animation style, the look of the five main robots and the new design of Voltron itself.

It even shows a short sequence of how these five robots came together to form Voltron. As stated in a report from Cinema Blend, back in the 1980s it was accepted that they just fit but this new sequence reveals that there are a lot more intricate locks and mechanics into the formation of Voltron.

It is also pointed out that the story of the series is going to be a more mature take compared to the tone of the original, ditching the one-shot stories of the old series for longer story arcs that cross over several episodes. This will allow the series to cater to kids of today's generation while being deep enough for adults who watch it due to nostalgia.

"Voltron" as a series started when the Japanese anime series "Beast King GoLion" and "Armored Fleet Dairugger XV" were spliced and edited to create an entirely new series. The famous "Five Lion Voltron" is known as the "Voltron of the Far Universe" and there are two other versions for the Near Universe and the Middle Universe. It is unknown if these different Voltrons and different universes will be tackled in the reboot series.

"Voltron: Legendary Defender" will premiere on Netflix this June 10.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
