New TV shows to watch in 2016: 'Westworld,' 'The Preacher,' and 'Billions' expected to draw in solid viewership

TV gets more interesting every year as producers continually search for shows that will be the next big thing. This is good news for viewers since this means better shows. Next year is no different, as many networks are launching big programs with the potential to become bestsellers.

HBO will be airing "Westworld" in 2016 (date not yet specified). The series revolves around two guests of a high-tech amusement park that breaks down. With its computer system busted, the robots working in the park start to run amok. One of these malfunctioning robots is a gunslinger out to hunt the two guests. The Wild West theme and the sci-fi feel will surely make this series a hit. The original story was written by Michael Crichton. The series will star Ben Barnes, Ingrid Borso Berdal, Clifton Collins Jr., Ed Harris, and Anthony Hopkins, just to name a few.

"The Preacher" will also have a TV adaptation to be released next year. Based on a popular adult comics, the show tells the story of a preacher who embarks on a journey to fight supernatural evil that destroyed his Texas hometown. This adaptation has been attempted so many times, and it is only now that AMC finally signed on a deal to get the show on air next year. Written for television by Seth Rogen and Even Goldberg (the duo behind "The Interview"), the show is expected to please many aficionados of the comics. 

Showtime will also be airing its new TV series "Billions." This drama is based on the story of two ambitious men on the opposing sides of the New York elite. One is a State Attorney and the other is a wealthy businessman. Both will duel inside the world of power, money, and corruption. The series will feature Paul Giamatti, Damian Lewis, Toby Leonard Moore, Malin Akerman, and more.
