The creator of "True Detective" hinted that fans will welcome two female leads in the second season of the suspense TV show.

It has been three month since "True Detective" held its cliffhanger season 1 finale and many fans missed the TV show playing on Sunday nights. However, the fans will be delighted by the fact that the thrilling anthology will be back for its second season with an outstanding cast.

Creator Nic Pizzolatto answered an inquiry of a fan via Twitter, "@friggenawesome One of the detriments of only having two POV characters, both men (a structural necessity). Next season..." However, Pizzolatto later deleted the tweet that sparked rumors.

It was initially speculated that Michelle Monaghan who played Maggie in the first season will be one of the leads. She was described as strong and talented and is definitely up for the main role. However, reports said that Jessica Chastain was cast to be one of the female leads next season.

The "Zero Dark Thirty" actress was apparently offered a leading role in Season 2 but has not confirmed yet. Many thought that Chastain is perfect to be part of the cast since she was a highly-acclaimed actress and will be able to follow the acts of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

There were also reports that "Tree of Life" actor Brad Pitt will be cast on the second season of the anthology. Chastain and Pitt were co-stars in 2011 drama "The Tree of Life." It was a great move for Pizzolatto to cast actors who already have a professional relationship.

An insider told Hollywood Life, "Brad's name has come up many times; it's just a matter of what his other commitments are."

The recent news of Brad Pitt tossing a can of beer to Matthew McConaughey in New Orleans where the set of the TV show seemed to hint that the prime actor will join the cast soon.
