The second season of "True Detective" may welcome a new male lead, according to the script of the TV show.
"True Detective" has lived up to the expectations of many fans and the TV series is no stranger in shocking its viewers. At the final episode of its first season, the audience was surprised with the revelation of the Yellow King. However, fans must wait until show creator, Nic Pizzolatto, reveals his plans for the second season of "True Detective".
Latest reports claimed that the series will add another male lead character. The Wrap reported that the script of season 2 made Nic Pizzolatto go against his first decision.
"#True Detective Twitter EXCLU: The 1st script for the 2nd season is IN & agency sources tell us it features one MALE lead & male/female co-stars," The Wrap reported on June 27.
It was initially reported that "True Detective" will feature a female lead. This is backed up by a tweet from the series creator tweet, which answered one of the fans' questions.
"@friggenawesome One of the detriments of only having two POV characters, both men (a structural necessity). Next season...," Pizzolatto tweeted. This hinted that a female character will be part of the regular cast.
Earlier reports claimed that Maggie (Michelle Monaghan) was offered a lead character in the second season of "True Detective", but other reports stated that Jessica Chastain was cast to be one of the female leads next season.
Recent statements from the series creator also cleared up the ongoing rumors. He said that none of the rumors was true. There were also talks claiming that heavyweight actors Matthew McConaughey and Brad Pitt will join the series.
However, Nic neither confirmed nor denied the rumors. "I've talked to one person about it, possibly, and that has been it. We haven't cast anybody. I have a secret list and that's it. There is a strong (lead) female character," said Pizzolatto, adding, "But I wouldn't say it is female-led or anything like that," he said.
Everyone is dying to know who are included in Nic's secret list. It is sure that Nic will reveal the details of season 2 anytime soon.
