Actor Colin Farrell, who will star in the second season of "True Detective," praised Nic Pizzolatto and his work in writing the next installment of the hit TV series.
"I've only read half of the eight episodes. It's phenomenal writing, strong writing. It's all there on the page. Nic Pizzolatto has done an incredible job creating this new world that is a separate time and separate place and has a completely new array of characters than the first season," Farrell told Chicago Tribune.
Farrell confirmed that the second season of "True Detective" will feature eight episodes, like what has been previously reported, and that the episodes will take four to five months to shoot. The actor also said that filming will take place in Los Angeles, although showrunner Nic Pizzolatto reportedly said that he already ruled out L.A. for the show's location and would opt for a less famous town in California instead. This is to avoid large groups and crowds on filming sites.
Many are doubtful whether the second season will surpass the stellar first season of the series. The protagonists of season one were played by top actors Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Both actors received Outstanding Lead Actor Emmy nominations for their roles in the series while the show earned an Outstanding Drama nomination.
It took a while before the cast of season two was confirmed. A lot of names were brought up and presumed to star in the series, including top notch actor Brad Pitt. According to the press release from HBO, Colin Farrell will play the role of Ray Velcoro who is a detective working for the police department and a mobster.
Meanwhile, Vince Vaughn has been confirmed to have bagged another lead role. He will play the role of Frank Semyon who is a career criminal at the point of losing his career when he decides to go straight. However, he is upset by the murder of a business partner. Meanwhile, two more spots in the lead cast are said to still be open.
