'Transformers 5' spoilers: Plot rumored to bring in Cybertron and the wizard Merlin

 Paramount Pictures

"Transformers: The Last Knight" will be the fifth official entry in the live-action "Transformers" movies and while official information about the movie is sparse at the time being, a report from JoBlo reveals what the plot may focus on and what kind of characters may appear in the film.

According to the report, a portion of the film will see Optimus Prime travelling to the ruins of the planet Cybertron, the home of the Autobots and Decepticons. Optimus will also discover that he was the one responsible for the planet's destruction, likely during the war he waged against Megatron when they still fought for possession of the Cube.

While Optimus' story will pick up right where "Age of Extinction" left off, the characters left on Earth will need to find a special artifact that may be used to bring Cybertron back together. As with previous films, this artifact crash landed on Earth centuries ago and is rumored to be the sword Excalibur.

It is further stated that the film will tie into Arthurian legend. It is explained that King Arthur's advisor, the magician Merlin, may have gotten his magic from an ancient Transformer during the medieval ages. Arthur and Merlin may have also possessed the Excalibur, the artifact Optimus and his allies will be hunting for.

The film will see the return of Mark Wahlberg as the lead human character. Bumblebee, which was recently given a facelift for the film, will be the leader of the Autobots on Earth since Optimus is out in space. Joining him are Hound, Drift, Crosshairs, the Dinobots such as Grimlock and mini-dinobots which may be as big the humans.

According to the report, British Transformers may also be introduced such as an Aston Martin named "Cogman" and a Vespa referred to as "Squeaks."

Optimus Prime may also encounter The Creator, the alien being that created the Transformers, and it is rumored that Sir Anthony Hopkins is the most likely actor to portray or voice this character.

"Transformers: The Last Knight" is scheduled for release on June 23, 2017.
