iOS 8 download and install: Top problems

Apple rolled out the new iOS 8 to its devices yesterday, but it did not go as smoothly as planned.

iOS 8 comes with new software features and included updates to the photos, iMessage and the keyboard applications. The search function, Spotlight, and iCloud are also improved. iOS 8 also packs the much awaited Health application to manage the health information of the user, such as heart rate and BMI. However, just as many people expected, the new iOS 8 comes with bugs and issues.  Below are some of the top problems of the new iOS 8.

1. Battery drain issues

Just a day after iOS 8 was rolled out to Apple devices, users started complaining about their iPhone's shortened battery life compared to when they were using iOS 7. Some users claimed that their handsets got very hot upon installing the operating system. These claims are not new since new mobile software come with added features that hog the battery of the device.

2. HealthKit bug

An unnamed bug was reported to come with Apple's new HealthKit that expunges some apps from the App Store. The HealthKit was supposed to become a central command center for all fitness data.

"We discovered a bug that prevents us from making HealthKit apps available on iOS 8 today. We're working quickly to have the bug fixed in a software update and have HealthKit apps available by the end of the month," Apple's spokesperson told CNET.

3. iCloud Drive

Apple launched the iCloud Drive that enables users to sync users' phones to their Macs. However, the new feature works only with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite. Thus, until the Yosemite appears in the scene, iOS users won't gain access to iCloud Drive.

The new OS works with iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPad Mini, iPad Mini with Retina Display, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4th gen, and iPad Air.
