'The Walking Dead' season 7 spoilers: Daryl may form strange partnership with Negan

Daryl Dixon in "The Walking Dead" season 6 AMC

"The Walking Dead" season 6 ended with a sudden cliffhanger when Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) used his baseball bat to kill one of the main characters, but the identity of his victim has been kept a secret. According to iDigital Times, there is a chance that Daryl (Norman Reedus) is not the person Negan killed off.

According to the report, the Spoiling Dead Facebook page posted an image showcasing Daryl following Negan in what appears to be the main headquarters of the Sanctuary, Negan's group of brutal mercenaries. Daryl is shown wearing what may be a prison jumpsuit with a large letter A in the front and center.

It is implied that this means Daryl is still alive and could be one of Negan's main prisoners after letting Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the rest of the group go or he may have been captured at a later event when the two groups clash in battle sometime during season 7.

According to iDigital Times, it is also possible that Daryl's story arc will be based on that of Carl (Chandler Riggs) from the original comic books. In the comics, Carl was furious after Negan killed one of their allies and open-fired an assult rifle at Negan's group. This got Negan's attention and admiration, allowing the two to form a strange bond with each other.

It is speculated that in the television series, Daryl will be the one to attack the Saviors and later gain the admiration of Negan. However, it is noted that even though Negan would admire Daryl or Carl, he would still treat them as an enemy but not so much as a prisoner who needed to be tortured and frightened.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will premiere on AMC this coming October, although a specific release date has yet to be announced.
