Popular zombie TV "The Walking Dead" will reportedly have a spinoff which will kick off next year.
In September 2013, AMC revealed its plans to make a spinoff from "The Walking Dead" series. However, the show has no title yet and the details were very vague.
However, it was known that the spinoff will feature a new set of characters and a new location, but the characters will still battle the undead like its mother series. According to reports, David Erickson has signed on to oversee the project, co-write and executive produce. Robert Kirkman and Gale Ann Hurd are also attached.
The spinoff has been slated for premiere in 2015 although it is still unclear when the filming will start as well as the exact premiere date of the series. TWD executive producer Scott Gimple admitted to Collider that he does not know much about the details of the spinoff.
"I have little to do with the spinoff... This I do know. It's set in the word of 'The Walking Dead' but from what I understand, it's not like Daryl's cousin or anything... I would never say never [to a crossover between the shows] because if I was a viewer I would say that's sounds awesome. But we're doing our own show. I also think a crossover might be tough because it would take a lot of [license] within the comic story. We'll see. When we get to all-out war, who knows?" Gimple said.
However, Gimple revealed some spoilers for the "The Walking Dead" series. He admitted that the next season will be emotional for the characters. This hinted a lot of possibilities, including some of the characters dying and exiting the series.
The show runner also revealed that the TV series cannot remain 100% faithful to the comic version of the series since it is quite difficult to do so.
"There's a butterfly effect. But that's actually an incredibly fun part of the [show]. I would say that even the inventions we have on the show are inspired by the comics," Gimple said.
