As AMC's "The Walking Dead" is set to come back on the small screen for its fifth season in just a week, fans are now highly anticipating the return of Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Michonne (Danai Gurira) and the rest of the surviving characters.

In the last season, hell had been set loose in the settlement called Terminus which they all thought would be a place of safety and protection for everyone. With numerous trailers and promotional photos being unveiled for season five of "The Walking Dead", the upcoming episodes are highly expected to show a mean battle not only with the walkers but with fellow humans as well, according to NY Daily News

Aside from dealing with the deceitful residents of Terminus, Rick and the gang are still to push through their journey to Washington, D.C. where they may discover a cure for the zombie syndrome.

Moreover, Daryl's love life has also become a favorite topic among "TWD" fans; while the crossbow-carrying character has not necessarily been cozying up to anyone in the last season, fans have been waiting whether a romantic spark would pop up between him and Beth (Emily Kinney) or even with Carol (Melissa McBride).

Norman Reedus told ET that he is willing to play his part regardless of his character's sexual orientation, as there have been speculations that Daryl might be gay.

"Whatever that decision is I want to play it as real as possible," Reedus stated.

With season five's premiere episode, a "TWD" trailer has shown that the Termites had Rick and the others held in a railroad car. Carol and Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman), who got separated from the group, had been carrying baby Judith with them. Whatever the Termites have planned for these survivors, fans would just have to wait for a couple more days.

"The Walking Dead" season five has been slated to premiere on October 12, with its first episode titled "No Sanctuary."
