'The Voice' season 11 premiere date update: new judges Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys seen in trailer

The Voice season 11 NBC

"The Voice" season 11 is going to shake things up with the introduction of Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys as the new judges while Pharrell Williams and Christina Aguilera are not available. To showcase their musical prowess, the studios have released a new trailer for the show, showcasing all four judges performing a song.

The trailer focuses on Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys doing their rendition of "Dream On," originally by Aerosmith. It begins softly, with Alicia Keys on piano before it ramps up with Shelton on the chorus. Levine also performs while playing on the guitar and Cyrus finishes the song as it hits its crescendo.

As reported by People, this will be the first time that there will be two female coaches in a season. For previous seasons there have only been one female coach at a time, usually Christina Aguilera or Gwen Stefani. This will be the first time two will take a seat simultaneously.

Miley Cyrus also confirmed that the show would not stoop down low and just focus on the two girls cat fighting against each other, jokingly stating that bickering was something more that Levine and Shelton would do. In response, Levine stated that Cyrus is the "youthful spirit" that the show has been missing.

Two women coaches is what 'The Voice' needs," stated Keys in the report. "I'm looking forward to rooting people on and being here for the dreamers like me. You're able to hear someone true for who they are, and that's what music is."

Former judges such as Aguilera and Williams may still come back in future seasons, depending on their schedules.

As reported by The Huffington Post subsequent trailers have also shown some of the performers who will audition for season 11 such as Darby Walker. The trailers also end with a tribute to Christina Grimmie, former YouTube star and "The Voice" performer and host, who was shot and killed this past June.

"The Voice" season 11 premieres this Sept. 19.
