'Vampire Diaries' season 7 spoilers: episode 10 focuses on Damon; series facing cancellation?

 CW

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 10, titled "Hell Is Other People," will be the first episode following the winter finale. According to a report from Variety this episode will focus primarily on Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and will reveal even more details regarding his past via period-piece flashbacks.

"The episode was really about Damon, but that's not why I think it was the best at all. The way the story was put together... every artisan from set to producers to wardrobe to everyone was just so on-point," the actor explained. "It was a Civil War episode. I was covered in dirt and gunpowder with things blowing up around me."

A report from the IB Times indicates that the episode will see the Salvatore brothers cook up a new plot in order to stop Julian (Todd Lasance) after he creates something that is meant to be the greatest threat thus far. This new plan is said to be particularly risky, although further details have not been divulged.

The episode is also said to shed some light on Caroline's (Candice King) pregnancy with the twin children of Alaric (Matt Davis). How she will deal with this new situation has yet to be seen as the promotional trailer doesn't reveal her current course of action.

Episode 10 will also mark a new time slot for the series. "The Vampire Diaries" will now occupy a Friday evening time slot, and according to a report from Cartermatt this may be an early indication that the show could be cancelled within the foreseeable future.

According to the report, the Friday timeslot has proven disastrous for past shows such as "Hart of Dixie" and "America's Next Top Model." Period-piece drama "Reign" also shares a Friday timeslot and is reportedly facing cancellation unless it picks up higher viewer ratings soon.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 10 will air on Friday, Jan. 29 2016.
