During the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour, the executive producer for FX's hit show "The Strain" managed to give several words regarding the direction they were going in for season 3 and what sort of plot twists the fans could expect to see when the show returns at the end of August.

As stated in a report from TVLine, executive producer Chuck Hogan, who also co-wrote the novels alongside writer-director Guillermo del Toro, confirmed that some characters who normally wouldn't be together will find themselves on the same boat, working together, during season 3.

"There are some new character combinations. Some people come together and join force who I don't think anyone really expect and that's been a lot of fun to see," Hogan explained. He then teased a major story twist, stating there will be a "major story turn in episode 3, that I don't think people are anticipating at that point in the season."

Hogan went on to explain that from that point on the story will dive into an unexpected but interesting direction.

The executive producer also hinted that while season 3 may not be the official final season for the show, the end was indeed in sight. Hogan explained that the series was originally envisioned to have only three seasons and now that they are in the development phase of season 4 the end is already in sight, hinting that "The Strain" will end with season 4.

According to a report from Deadline, Hogan also stated that a major key point in season 3 was the Battle of New York. From there the rest of the world might be explored but the main priority is to showcase the fight between humans and Strigoi in New York City before the consequences around the world are shown to the audience.

"The Strain" season 3 will premiere on FX on Aug. 28.
