'The Originals' season 2: Watching Hayley will be "sad and heartbreaking", says Tonkin

Actress Pheobe Tonkin revealed that Hayley will be "sad and heartbreaking" to see in the next season of "The Originals." The actress added that her character has lost her sense of self after she transformed into a hybrid.

Fans saw that Hayley transformed into a hybrid on the season 4 finale of "The Originals," which is speculated to have a huge impact on her character on season 5. On the final episode, Hayley was killed but thanks to the baby's blood insider her, it brought her back to life. However, Hayley became a hybrid and not just a wolf and she lost the baby.

Phoebe Tonkin shared her thoughts about her character to E! Online. This circumstance will have a great effect to Hayley's personality and character development in the succeeding episodes. Tonkin revealed to fans that Hayley will be in a dark place when the series returns. Pheobe has a lot in her plate.

Tonkin also disclosed that Elijah will play an immense role in Hayley's life. A poster spotted for the second season of the hit TV series hinted that Elijah will try to save Hayley from "a path of self-destruction."

Moreover, Phoebe Tonkin shared with TV Line that although Klaus and Hayley's hybrid daughter may be dead, she is definitely not forgotten. The Aussie actress also confirmed that the pair will talk about the hybrid child in the first three episodes of the second season of "The Originals".

"We don't just pretend she never happened," Tonkin said.

Hayley has developed a strong character since her "The Vampire Diaries" days. Pheobe Tonkin caught the eye of executive producer Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson when she appeared on "The Secret Circle". However, the show was canceled by CW. But the two had to find a spot for the young actress. A lot of people were impressed with Pheobe's portrayal of Hayley in "The Vampire Diaries" spin-off.
