'The Flash' season 2 spoilers: show stills tease Black Siren

The Flash - Black Siren The CW

Several weeks following the death of Laurel Lance aka the Black Canary (Katie Cassidy) on "Arrow" season 4, the actress will be coming back for "The Flash" season 2, episode 22 but this time she'll be portraying Laurel's Earth-2 doppleganger, a villainous meta-human known as the Black Siren.

The first batch of images giving audiences a better look at Black Siren have been released, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, showcasing not only the character's costume but also her relation to some of the other meta-humans such as Reverb (Carlos Valdes) and Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker).

This does come as a surprise given that both Reverb and Killer Frost, the Earth-2 dopplegangers of Cisco and Caitlin respectively, were killed off in previous episodes. The images reveal that all three are part of the group of meta-humans Zoom (Teddy Sears) called in to invade Earth-1, with Black Siren as their primary leader.

One of the images showcases Black Siren speaking directly to an unmasked Zoom, indicating that he holds her with more respect than the others. However, it is still possible that Zoom could easily dispose of her if she should fail, similar to how he killed Killer Frost and Reverb before. How the latter two are still alive has yet to be revealed.

Of all the characters on the show, Cisco is the one who is affected the most by the sudden appearance of Black Siren. Cisco and the Earth-1 counterpart, Laurel Lance, bonded during the previous seasons as the former developed the gear that Laurel used as Black Canary.

The episode won't just focus on Black Siren, however, as the synopsis for the episode obtained by TV Guide reveals that Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) will be hitting the streets to help the Flash (Grant Gustin). It is unclear if he is going to do this as Wally or if the episode will also focus on Wally gaining his speedster powers and becoming another Flash.

"The Flash" season 2, episode 22 airs May 17.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
