'The Flash' season 2 episode 22 spoilers: speedster powers for Wally West? Earth-2 Laurel Lance comes to town

Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West The CW

"The Flash" season 2 episode 22 is titled "Invincible" and according to the official synopsis, courtesy of TV Guide, it will have more to do with Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) than it may have to do with Barry Allen aka the Flash (Grant Gustin).

The synopsis states that Wally will be hitting the streets to help the Flash deal with an attack from villainous meta-humans coming from Earth-2. This may mean he is simply going out with a gun or technology from STAR Labs to deal with the meta-humans or this may be the episode where he unleashes his speedster abilities.

Wally West, in the original DC comic books, eventually became known as Kid Flash. While this is entirely possible, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg did state in an interview with Collider that for the time being only Barry Allen will carry the mantle of the Flash. This doesn't rule out that Wally West won't become a hero with his own nickname, however.

Although there are no confirmations of Wally becoming a speedster just yet, the synopsis does confirm that Laurel will be making an appearance on the show although it will not be the Earth-1 version that fans have grown attached to on "Arrow." Instead, this will be her Earth-2 counterpart, known as Black Siren.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) will be emotionally struck when he sees Black Siren for the first time, acknowledging the fact that Laurel from Earth-1 was recently killed in "Arrow" season 4.

"Cisco reacts in a pretty unexpected way," Valdes explained. "There's a little bit of a morbid shock, because the characters have an awareness to the fact that Laurel Lance is dead. That death had some effect on these characters in this world."

"The Flash" season 2 episode 22 airs this May 17.
