'The Big Bang Theory' season 9 spoilers: Meemaw makes first appearance in episode 14

"The Big Bang Theory" has consistently mentioned Sheldon Cooper's (Jim Parsons) grandmother, whom he affectionately calls his "meemaw." She has even affected Cooper's decisions over the course of the show.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Meemaw will finally make an appearance on the show.

According to the report, Sheldon's grandmother will be played by Academy Award-winning actress June Squibb. The episode synopsis reveals that Sheldon will be introducing Amy (Mayim Bialik) to his beloved grandmother only for the latter to begin grilling Amy about her life and her relationship with Sheldon.

The synopsis continues to reveal that Meemaw will reveal one of Sheldon's most well-kept secrets when Sheldon steps in to defend Amy. The details regarding this secret are still unknown but fans speculate it may have something to do with Sheldon's childhood or perhaps something regarding his physical relationship with women.

All of this comes just a few episodes after the episode in which Sheldon and Amy had sex for the first time. It is hinted by fans that Meemaw's opinion towards Amy may be derived from the knowledge that Amy was the one to take Sheldon's virginity away, forever altering his opinions on sex and physical relationships.

However, these are still based on fan speculations and rumors, and the show may end up with a completely different reason for Meemaw's attitude towards Amy and Sheldon.

Sheldon's grandmother was first mentioned in season 2 episode 17, "The Terminator Decoupling," in which Penny (Kaley Cuoco) discovers the box containing all of Meemaw's letters to Sheldon. At this point Sheldon's nickname, Moonpie, is also discovered. Following this point, Meemaw's existence continues to affect Sheldon's decisions, such as the time he allowed Wil Wheaton to win a trading card tournament because the latter lied about his grandmother dying.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 episode 14, "The Meemaw Materialization," will air on Feb. 4.
