Tekken 7 release date for PS4, XBox One in 2015?

The highly anticipated Tekken 7 game was unveiled July 13 by Bandai Namco Games at the Evolution Championship Series fighting game tournament in Las Vegas.

The game, which is the first new numbered entry since Tekken 6 in 2007, will be developed with Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4.

In a prepared statement, Tekken series executive producer and game director Katushiro Harada explained the decision to use Unreal Engine 4.

"The power and flexibility means that we can focus our efforts on making Tekken 7 the best possible game without worrying about spending time creating a stand-alone graphic engine," the Bandai Namco producer shared.

"With Unreal Engine 4, we could rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platform and go beyond it. Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it allows us to immediately bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire," Harada added.

In another prepared statement, Taka Kawasaki, the Epic Games Japan studio head, shared the company's excitement on the project.

"The Tekken franchise is beloved and we couldn't be more excited to be working with the talented team at Bandai Namco," Kawasaki said in a press release.

"This marriage is perfect — the most powerful engine in gaming along with one of the most enduring brands in fighting games. We have no doubt that these forces coming together will yield fantastic results," he further elucidated.

To appease the clamor of fans for more details regarding the upcoming game, Harada divulged that Tekken 7 will feature a plot with a "very detailed background story".

In an extended story trailer released at the San Diego Comic Con, as well as the most recent promotional clip from Bandai Namco Games, Tekken 7 was promised to finally conclude the story of the Mishima family.

However, an official release date for the game has not been set yet, although it is anticipated to be available for the Xbox One and Playstation 4 before the end of 2015.
