'Tekken 7' will feature improved graphics

Tekken 7 Bandai Namco

During the Paris Games Week, Sony and Bandai Namco announced that "Tekken 7" will exclusively release on the PlayStation 4 early 2016, although no specific release date has yet been given, reports Tech Times. Following up on the announcement, "Tekken 7" executive producer Katsuhiro Harada explained that the console port will have improved graphics.

Harada's statement was shared via Twitter and was a direct response to a question posted by fan regarding the game's graphic engine. The fan stated that the game's arcade graphics have seen little improvement since its release in Japan this past February and that the franchise as a whole has seen little graphical improvement over the years.

"Tekken 7" is notable for being the first game in the franchise to use the Unreal Engine 4 graphics and physics engine, which already makes it look a step above "Tekken Tag Tournament 2" and "Tekken 6," but Harada did confirm that the developers are indeed working to improve the graphics for its PS4 port.

One other factor that makes the graphics engine of "Tekken 7" significant is the fact that it is compatible with the upcoming PlayStation VR. However, Bandai Namco has yet to give a demonstration of the game running on the virtual reality peripheral and it appears that at the moment the game will remain exclusively on the PS4.

Harada's statement does not include what kind of improvements will be seen but it is likely to include better textures and more impressive special effects such as the sparks that burst out when a hit is made. Improved framerate and  overall resolution have also been cited by fans as possible improvements, given that many gamers now use Ultra HD 4K television sets.

"Tekken 7" was launched in Japanese arcades last Feb. 18 and has made it to the U.S. but only for select tournaments. The game's launch on the PS4 next year will mark the official launch of "Tekken 7" in North America.
