In the episode teaser for "Teen Wolf" season 5 episode 10 dubbed as "Status Asthmaticus," the banshee Lydia (Holland Roden) had a premonition wherein one of the members of the pack will meet his ultimate end. But Theo (Christian Cody) knocked her out to stop her from telling the pack's True Alpha, Scott (Tyler Posey), about the upcoming death.
It means that one of the characters will no longer return in the second part of season 5 when the series returns in winter, as well as in its upcoming sixth season.
The news for the season 6 renewal of MTV's supernatural teen drama came during the show's press panel at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con back in July. Series creator Jeff Davis first revealed the renewal order during that panel, and it was later announced publicly via Twitter.
Davis credited the show's fans for making the sixth season possible, saying, "As long as you keep watching, we'll probably get to keep making it. So thank you."
However, Davis confessed during his recent Artist Alley Podcast appearance that they initially planned to wrap up the series in season 5. He was asked about the plans for the pack from Beacon Hills High School after graduation, but he could not provide a definitive answer.
"We're still debating that because, I have to be honest, I thought season 5 was it. I thought we were ending," Davis shared. He also stated that there are no concrete plans yet for the plot next season, saying, "I have no idea what's going to happen with season 6. I have no idea if I'll be alive after 5B."
After Monday's summer finale, the show will be on a long hiatus until its return next year. There is no official release date yet, but the series is expected to return sometime in January.
"Teen Wolf" season 6, on the other hand, is expected to premiere mid-2016.
