'Super Mario Maker' release date announced with Wii-U bundle

Super Mario Maker Wii-U Bundle Nintendo

Nintendo has recently distributed a ton of information regarding release dates and other video game details to video game media sites — although without an accompanying Nintendo Direct presentation — which includes the official release date for "Super Mario Maker."

According to the information via Nintendo Everything, the game will be launched on Sept. 11. To celebrate the game's release, Nintendo is also offering a special Wii-U bundle that will only be available at Walmart and through Walmart's official retail site. The bundle is already available online for pre-order.

The bundle costs $299.96 and includes the "Super Mario Maker" game along with an Idea Book and the "30th Anniversary Mario Modern Color" amiibo. Without the bundle, the game bears a suggested retail price of $59.99.

The Idea Book includes ideas designed by the Nintendo development team, level designs and concept art that were used for the original "Super Mario Bros." game on NES, and special codes that can be used to watch videos of the development team creating their own levels.

While the bundle is exclusive to Walmart, there are no official confirmations that the included amiibo is also going to be exclusive. However, fans speculate and fear that it may also be exclusive solely to the "Super Mario Maker" Wii-U bundle and will not be available for purchase separately. This is the first time that Nintendo will be including an amiibo in one of their Wii-U bundles.

"Super Mario Maker" is a unique game maker that allows gamers to design their own "Super Mario" levels using the graphics, physics, and gameplay of "Super Mario Bros.," "Super Mario Bros. 3," "Super Mario World," and "New Super Mario Bros. U." Gamers can then share their created levels online as well as play the levels designed by others.
