Sony did not release any mobile device at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, which only increased the anticipation for the company's upcoming flagship handset. Now, it is predicted that the much-awaited Sony Xperia Z4 will be launched at the Mobile World Congress in March.

Chinese social media site Weibo has become a source of alleged leaked images of upcoming handsets in the trade show. An anonymous user of the social networking site uploaded alleged photos of the Sony Xperia Z4. Based on the photos, the Xperia Z4 looks a lot like the Xperia Z3 although noticeable differences are seen.

One of the most conspicuous changes in the smartphone is its bezels. The leak shows that the device has slimmer bezels, suggesting that the company will increase the size of the screen panel without enlarging the overall size of the phone. Also, the front panel of the Z4 shows changes on the front-facing camera and sensor holes, hinting that the selfie shooter is improved.

As for the specs, the smartphone is rumored to have both quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) and full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolutions. Other purported features of the handset are: Snapdragon 810 SoC, Adreno 420, 4 GB of RAM, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, 24-megapixel back camera with dual LED flash, and 12-megapixel front facing camera.

For sure, Sony Xperia Z4 will pack unique Xperia Z features such as PlayStation Remote Play and IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.

Although the alleged release of the Z4 at the MWC next month is parallel to the company's past launches, some reports are saying that the handset will be unveiled in summer instead. It is speculated that the reason behind the delay in the release date is to give the Xperia Z3 plenty of time in the limelight as it was announced only last September. At any rate, Sony is expected to release the official specs and features of the handset sooner than later.
