Sony Xperia Z4 release date imminent as handset appears in teaser video

A new teaser video of the alleged Sony Xperia Z4 was released, suggesting the imminent arrival of the handset. Releasing a video this early also hints that the device may be announced at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2015 kicking off on Jan. 6.

The video, entitled "Welcome to the New World," gives clues on what is inside the handset. It starts by showing a device with a thin profile suspected as the Sony Xperia Z4. The teaser also shows some strange elements like a dragon, hinting that the handset will be powered by a Snapdragon SoC. It is probably the forthcoming Snapdragon 810 chipset. If not, the company will probably settle with the Snapdragon 805.

A girl is also seen eating a lollipop, suggesting that the Xperia Z4 will run with the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. Moreover, the video put emphasis on the images and effects that point to the inclusion of a more powerful camera.

Meanwhile, the Sony Xperia Z4 was spotted in many places, including in the leaked email to Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton. The email contained the advertising initiative of the mobile arm of Sony with plans to pay producer Barbara Broccoli, director Sam Mendes, and main star Daniel Craig for placement fees in order for the handset to appear in the new James Bond film "Spectre."

According to rumors, Sony is going all-out next year and will also release the Xperia Z4 Compact and the Xperia Z4 Ultra alongside the flagship smartphone.

The Xperia Z4 is rumored to sport a 5.4-inch quad HD Triluminos display, Snapdragon 805 or 810 processor paired with 4 GB RAM, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, Sony's new 21-megapixel Exmor IMX230 camera sensor, 3.2-megapixel front-facing shooter; and 3300 mAh battery.

The Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra is rumored to include specs similar to the Xperia Z4, except for a 5.9-inch qHD Triluminos display and 16-megapixel rear camera. Meanwhile, the Xperia Z4 Compact will be the smaller version of the Z4 smartphone with slightly lower specs. However, Sony has revealed nothing official yet.
