New rumors have surfaced online claiming that Sony has plans to further expand the upcoming Xperia Z4 line by adding a smartphone that puts emphasis on its music playback functions and capabilities. The new rumored variant of the Sony Xperia Z4 will fuse together the stellar features of the forthcoming smartphone with the high sound quality of the Walkman music player. The device has been dubbed as Sony Xperia Z4 Music.

Releasing a handset and highlighting its music features is no longer new for Sony as during the reign of feature phones, the Japanese OEM manufacturer has offered devices that have Walkman-specific features. The upcoming handset will most likely boast even better music playing capabilities — it is said to feature front-facing surround speakers made by S-Force Pro. Reports also claim that the smartphone will feature a 4-inch display with an inferior screen resolution than the rumored quad HD coming to its flagship smartphone. Moreover, it will pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset.

Meanwhile, latest hearsays state that the Sony Xperia Z4 will come in two variants with different screen resolutions, specifically quad HD (2560 x 1440) and full HD (1920 x 1080) screen displays. However, both models will share the same screen size of 5.5 inches. Other high-end features to be included in the handset are: Snapdragon 810 chipset; 4 GB RAM; Android 5.0 Lollipop OS; 21-megapixel Exmor IMX230 camera sensor and 3.2-megapixel front-facing camera; and 3300 mAh battery.

Aside from a music player hybrid, other Sony Xperia Z4 variants rumored to be released alongside the Z4 smartphone are the Z4 Compact, the Z4 Ultra, and the Z4 tablets.

As for the release date of the device, waiting fans are expecting the handsets to be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress kicking off on March 2 to 5, especially after since Sony did not introduce its flagship device at the recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show. In the end, consumers are at the mercy of the manufacturer and they just have to be patient until official information is announced.
