During the recent IFA event held this year in Berlin, Germany, Sony unveiled some of its most awaited mobile devices, particularly the flagship phone Sony Xperia XZ and its smaller, more affordable counterpart known as the Xperia X Compact.

The Xperia X Compact has already begun rolling out since Sept. 5 in the UK and is set to launch worldwide in the weeks to follow. Many retail stores may already have the phones readily available. According to the report from Tech Radar the smaller device is expected to cost roughly $500, the same price as the Z5 when it was launched.

Specs-wise the Xperia X Compact sports a 5MP front-camera akin to the Galaxy S7 and a 23MP rear camera built with 5-axis image stablization, laser autofocus and 0.6 seconds response time.

As for the more powerful Xperia XZ, it won't be releasing in retail stores until October. It is more powerful, utilizing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 3GB of RAM, and it features multiple new technologies such as triple-sensor lenses for its 23MP rear camera and 13MP front-facing camera.

Gadgets 360 reports that it also comes with a USB-Typc C port, the first of its ilk on Sony's series. The phone also supports quick charging but it also has a unique adaptable charging system that studies a person's charging habits and adapts to it to optimize the phone's power.

While the Xperia X Compact uses a standard 2,700 mAh battery the Xperia XZ will feature a 2,900 mAh battery that will give it a slight edge in terms of battery longevity. The Xperia XZ also starts with a 32GB model and its internal memory can be increased up to 256GB with a microSD card.

It is also confirmed that the phones will come using Android 6.0 Marshmallow but will be able to upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat once the final build has been made available.
