Sony chose to silently place its new Xperia E4 and E4 Dual smartphones in the market this week.
The low-end handsets gun for the mid-range market. As expected, the handsets pack mediocre specs and features. These will battle with other budget smartphones already crowding the market like Apple's iPhone 5C and Google's Android One.

Sony Xperia E4, E4 Dual
Sony boasts that the new Xperia E4 and Xperia E4 Dual have "high-quality yet affordable design." The fresh additions to the Xperia collection comes with a 5-inch IPS display, 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front camera. The Japanese OEM manufacturer is extremely proud of its two-day battery life that is quite rare in smartphones. The E4 Dual comes with dual SIM feature. Sony has yet to reveal the price and availability of the device.
iPhone 5C
In 2013, Apple introduced the low-cost iPhone 5C alongside its high end brother, the iPhone 5S. Although the iPhone 5C packs mediocre specs and features in comparison with the full-fledged smartphone, it boasts a 4-inch screen display, dual-core A6 chipset, iOS 7, 8-megapixel back camera, and 1510 mAh battery life, which are still decent specs for a budget handset. Moreover, the iPhone 5C costs cheaper since newer iPhones are already available in the market. It now carries a price tag of $450 SIM-free. Carriers are offering the the device with no upfront price.
Android One
Google is known for its affordable handsets, especially the Nexus line. But last year, the tech giant introduced a far cheaper smartphone — priced as low as $100 — dubbed as Android One. The handset combines the beloved features of both smartphones and old mobile phones. Thus, Android One boasts a 4.5-inch screen display, FM Radio, dual SIM support, microSD card slot, and a friendly price tag. More importantly, Android One enjoys pure Android experience like the Nexus devices. Latest reports claim that it already received the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update.
