The recent statements of "Sherlock" co-creator Steven Moffat gave rise to new speculations about what will happen next season.
Steven Moffat dished out some hints about what fans should be expecting in the fourth season of "Sherlock." Due to the vagueness of his statement, his words were subjected to various interpretations. Latest predictions claimed that someone will die next season. This stemmed from Moffat's words that the cast was moved when told about what is in store for next season.
"We practically reduced our cast to tears by telling them the plan. Honestly, Mark [Gatiss] and myself are so excited with what we've got coming up, probably more excited than we've ever been about Sherlock. ... Honestly I think we can [top the last series]," said Moffat, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Moffat also assured waiting fans that the beloved characters will be back shooting amidst their hectic schedule. Currently, the team behind the series and the writers are busy at work concocting the production.
"Sherlock" season four still does not have a concrete premiere date yet. Steven Moffat said that it all lies in the hands of BBC. Previous reports stated that "Sherlock" will have a Christmas special slated for December 2015 featuring the story based on the mystery, "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle."
Meanwhile, the series will be back for its fourth season in early 2016 and will be composed of three episodes only. However, this also has not yet been confirmed by BBC.
The filming of "Sherlock" season four is reported to start in January 2015, but fans may have to wait longer for the new season as there were rumors that the schedule will be pushed back. The delay in filming is due to the individual schedules of the series' actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.
"Sherlock" was the big winner at the recent Emmy Awards as the main characters of the show bagged the top awards.
