'Scream Queens' season 2 renewed or cancelled?

 20th Century Fox Television

At this point Fox has yet to officially renew "Scream Queens" for a second season. According to actress Jamie Lee Curtis, who played Dean Cathy Munsch, the chances of a renewal depends heavily on her winning theBest Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical at this year's Golden Globes.

"A win would mean a second season for 'Scream Queens,'" explained Curtis at the award night's Red Carpet, as per E! Online. "That's what would happen for me. If I won it would be a guaranteed second season for 'Scream Queens' and I would feel really good."

However, as posted by /Film, the award that night went to Rachel Bloom for her role in "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." While this does not immediately lower the chances of "Scream Queens" getting renewed for a second season, it does diminish the impact of her statement.

The mere fact that Curtis was nominated is a strong indication that the series is successful despite the mixed reviews the show has accumulated from critics. Many fans speculate that Curtis' nomination alone should be enough for Fox to consider renewing the series for at least one more season.

According to the report from E! Online, series creator Ryan Murphy does have plans for future seasons and he does have an idea which characters from season 1 will be coming back in case there is the go signal to move forward with season 2. It is also stated that both Emma Roberts and Lea Michele are interested in coming back for season 2.

Season 1 ended with the revelation that the murderer was none other than Hester (Michele) but the very last scene of the season showcased a new masked Red Devil. Speaking with ET, Michele explained that if she was to be brought back for season 2, it would be an interesting take to see her role reversed and to make her one of the victims.
