Samsung and Barnes & Noble are bringing a larger Nook breed on the table. The inception of the merger in June has already resulted to the $170 Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 7.0. Two months after the 7-inch Nook hit the market, a bigger-sized co-branded device went on a roll-out.

The announcement of the companies on Wednesday, Oct. 22 is of a new and bigger Galaxy Tab 4 Nook that will sport a 10.1-inch display. Samsung, which worked on the hardware makings and Barnes & Noble on the software have stated that $200 worth of assorted content are to go with the new device.

The Nook device will also include the Google Play Store. But from the built-in NOOK Store, users can indulge themselves to heaps of book selections, TV shows, magazines and apps. The 7-inch Nook holds the same amount of content too. So basically, a $30 'instant rebate' is already there.

Customers will get four bestselling e-books ready on their visual shelves to jumpstart their reading endeavors. To expand the activities to engage in, users will also be treated to a free 14-day subscription to one of select 15 magazines supported by the Nook on top of a single episode from TV series "The Newsroom," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and "The Octonauts".

However, details about the shelf life to expect on the bigger Nook have not been disclosed. A Barnes & Noble spokesperson, via CNet, stated in an email to the site that the company has 'not announced anything at this point'.

Information on the specs, however, was made available. The larger Nook features 16GB built-in storage capacity coupled with a 1280x800 resolution. Pretty much like its immediate predecessor, cameras were incorporated on the new Nook. A 1.3-megapixel front-facing snapper and a 3-megapixel rear shooter. Not much of a stunner, but these are some perks previous Nooks and e-readers have not had before.

The larger Nook device will be up against Apple's iPad and Amazon's Kindle Fire, which are expected to take over customers' holiday shopping list. The Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 10.1 cost $299.99. Users can purchase one online or from any Barnes & Noble bookstores.
