Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, specs: Phone rumored to sport new Exynoss 889 processor and launch early 2017

The Samsung Galaxy S8 may be one of the first new smartphones to sport a brand-new 10nm processor. According to a report from Phone Arena, there is a possibility that the phone will be using the as-yet-unannounced Exynoss 8895.

However, the report does iterate that it is unlikely the phone will use it as it might prefer to utilize the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 chipset instead. If it does use the Exynoss 8895 then it is speculated to be up to 30 percent more efficient than the current Exynoss 8890 chip that the S7 uses and up to 25 percent more efficient than the Snapdragon 821.

This will also allow the processor to reach a maximum clock speed of 4 GHz, enabling it to better perform in terms of multitasking and to smoothly run high-powered apps such as AAA games and video editing apps designed for mobile devices. However, as stated by Expert Reviews there are no clear evidences that a higher clock speed will lead to better performance.

Whether or not the phone will come with the rumored Exynoss 8895 chip it is certain that it will not launch anytime soon given that the S7 and its ilk released earlier this year. As stated by Expert Reviews, it is likely that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will instead release by February 2017.

According to the report, Samsung has followed a very specific pattern of unveiling their new phones every February during the World Mobile Congress which is held in Barcelona. The report further states that the S8 and S8 Edge are likely going to be presented during late February and then finally be released a month later, around late March.

Other rumors include the possibility of a 4K display, VR capabilities and the brand new Android 7.0 Nougat. Samsung has yet to confirm or deny any of these rumors however and the information should be taken with consideration.
