Samsung Galaxy S6 specs: Snapdragon 810 SoC dropped to rely on Exynos chip?

After months of speculations that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 will come with a Snapdragon 810 SoC, latest rumors are now claiming that the tech company is letting go of Qualcomm's newest mobile processor and will stick to its own Exynos chip instead.

According to Bloomberg, all upcoming high-end Android smartphones will be powered by the Snapdragon 810 chip, except for the Galaxy S6. The report cited people who are knowledgeable about the matter.

It is predicted that Samsung is trying to be all independent. The shift presumably started with the new variant of the Galaxy Note 4 coming solely to South Korea on Jan. 30. The handset packs the latest Exynos chip and supports Cat 9 LTE for faster download speeds.

Another hint that Samsung is seeking independence from its business partners is the rumor that its devices will soon run with the Tizen operating system developed by the company. It was previously thought that the Galaxy S6 will boast the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. Currently, the company still relies on Google's Android operating system for its major and flagship smartphones. However, some of the company's devices are already using the Tizen OS. The shift to the latter will give Samsung an iOS-like liberty when it comes to its operating system.

If rumors prove to be true, then it will be a major blow to Samsung's partners, Qualcomm and Android. The South Korean mobile manufacturer, after all, is the largest Android-based smartphone maker that has helped both companies in making a name in the mobile devices scene. Moreover, Samsung is considered as Apple's top rival.

Apart from these new rumors surrounding Samsung's Galaxy S6, it is also purported that the device will feature a 5- to 5.5-inch screen display with quad HD resolution, Adreno 420 graphics chipset, 16-megapixel back camera and 3.7-megapixel front facing camera.

Meanwhile, some rumors are claiming that Samsung will announce the Galaxy S6 on March 2 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It is most likely that the company will make use of its presscon at the said event to introduce its next flagship phone. More details will be made public as the trade show inches closer.
