Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4, Sony Xperia Z4 release date depending on Snapdragon 810 launch?

The release of Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4, and Sony Xperia Z4 was reportedly pushed back since Qualcomm will delay the launch of its forthcoming Snapdragon 810 chipset. The company is said to be having problems in manufacturing the new processor.

According to Business Korea, an unnamed industry source revealed that Qualcomm found out that the Snapdragon 810 overheats and its performance slows down due to unspecified problems in the RAM controller connected to the AP. Moreover, an error is found with the Adreno 420 GPU. The processor will not be launched until these problems are resolved.

The Snapdragon 810 is an octa-core processor that will have 64-bit architecture and will support 4K screen displays. The chipset is one of the most anticipated features in upcoming smartphones.

At this rate, it is impossible to confirm whether the smartphones bound for release early next year will pack the new Qualcomm processor. These smartphones were speculated to appear at the Mobile World Congress scheduled on March 2, but if the news about the delay proves to be accurate, then consumers may have to wait longer — unless the manufacturers decide to use another processor for their upcoming devices.

The companies may have to resort to the current Snapdragon 805 processors used in recently-released handsets like Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Sony Xperia Z3. This may not be favorable for Xperia Z4 since it will not be much of an upgrade from the Xperia Z3.

Samsung Galaxy S6, on the other hand, just might sport its own octa-core Exynos chipset. The other South Korean tech company LG Electronics was also previously reported to be working on its own processor line dubbed as Nuclun, which is rumored to power the successor of LG G3.

Meanwhile, Qualcomm has not commented on the report yet and mobile manufacturers have not revealed the details of the official launches of their respective devices.
