The Samsung Galaxy S5 Google Play Edition may be released soon as the Galaxy S4 GPE disappeared from the Play Store. The only GPE device from Samsung has been gone for a while and will no longer be available in Google's store.

The webpage dedicated to the device greets consumers with the statement, "is no longer available for sale." The site's visitors can instead select from other available devices such as the Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 9 and the HTC One M8. But reports are suggesting that the Google Play Store will also ax the HTC One M8 soon along with other Nexus devices such as Nexus 5.

Meanwhile, this immediately renewed the rumors that a Samsung Galaxy S5 will get a Google Play Edition. This is not the first time that the grapevine went abuzz about the handset. The smartphone was first speculated back in July 2014 at the Google I/O Conference. The alleged smartphone was spotted again at Google's website when the search giant revamped its site upon the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop in October. The Samsung Galaxy S5 GPE was seen beside Nexus devices, Android Wear smartwatches, and other Google Play Edition phones.

According to rumors, the Google Play Edition of Samsung Galaxy S5 will feature a 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen display. It will be powered by Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 paired with 2 GB of RAM, and will be available in 32 GB with additional microSD card slot of up to 128 GB external storage. Other speculated features of the handset are a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera as well as a 2800 mAh battery pack. The smartphone will surely run with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

Although it would be great to see a new GPE phone, with the alleged release date of next generation Samsung Galaxy S6, the handset may overshadow the GS5 GPE. However, Samsung has not announced anything yet.
