The Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone may receive the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update sometime in December or January, according to reliable rumors.
New speculations suggest that Galaxy S5 users may start receiving notifications for the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update in late 2014 or early 2015. The rumors are backed up by the fact that Google has already started delivering the new operating system to Android-based OEM manufacturers, which in turn will roll out the update to their respective devices. Some tech companies like LG, Motorola and HTC already began rolling out the update.
There is a bigger chance that Samsung will commence Android 5.0 distribution in January as there are a lot of factors that are involved in the process. After Samsung received the OS from Google, customizations were made to add Samsung features like the TouchWiz UI, which will then be passed to various carriers who will make their respective modifications.
The international or unlocked version of the device will most likely receive the update ahead of those under networks. Also, some users may have to wait longer than others as the mobile firmware will be rolled out in phases to avoid flooding the network.
Currently, Samsung is still wrapping up the delivery of Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS. The South Korean tech company has a reputation of rolling out the latest version of Android OS later than other manufacturers.
