Samsung Galaxy Alpha launched: Galaxy Note 4 to drop faux leather for metal casing too?

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will most likely pack a metal casing, letting go of the faux leather sleeve sported by its predecessor.

Samsung fans finally rested their case upon insisting that the company's handsets should pack a metal casing and ditch its plastic and faux leather covers. The recently-announced Samsung Galaxy Alpha, which is Samsung's first metal smartphone, hinted that the company's phablet will also pack a sturdier case.

The Galaxy Alpha's cover is not pure metal as it also packs a polycarbonate back similar to the Galaxy S5. This could also be the case for the Galaxy Note 4.

According to rumors, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will come with a quadHD screen display with 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution, 64-bit processor, Android 4.4.3 Kitkat operating system, 3GB RAM, and 3 megapixel front-facing camera. The handset was reported to be available in two variants with different processors - the international variant will come with Exynos chipset and the unit released in the US will pack the Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor.

Furthermore, Korean media reported that instead of ISOCELL technology, the phablet will sport 12MP with Optical Image Stabilization paired with 3.7MP front-facing camera. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 was also rumored to bring forth a UV Sensor and Retina Scanner although Samsung has not confirmed any of these rumors.

Meanwhile, Android Authority published an internal memo for Samsung employees prohibiting the filing of vacation leaves from September 3 to September 5 for the Unpacked event as well as between September 15 and September 28, when the phablet hits the retail stores in various markets. This almost confirmed that the launch of the Galaxy Note 4 will take place on Sept. 3.

In the past, it usually took about a month after the launch of a Samsung device before it hit the shelves of carriers and retailers. However, the case seemed different this year as the memo hinted that people will be able to purchase the device in a matter of two weeks. This is speculated to be brought about by the declining sales of the Samsung devices.
