A lot of devices have entered the phone-tablet category, but the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is currently deemed as one of the top-selling phablets in the market.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has the following specs and features: 5.6-inch quad HD Super AMOLED screen display with 571 ppi pixel density; 2.7 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 805 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM; 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants and microSD slot of up to 64 GB; 3220 mAh battery; and Android 4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz user interface. At the back of the Note 4 is a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization technology, and in front is its 3.7-megapixel front-facing camera. The device now appears in more color variants – Charcoal Black, Frost White, and Bronze Gold.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is available for $299 with two-year commitment under a carrier, but below are three reasons why consumers might want to hold off buying the device.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 810

Samsung is reported to get first dibs on the upcoming 20 nm Snapdragon 810 chipset from Qualcomm bound for release early next year. Reports state that the South Korean company will release a new variant of the Galaxy Note 4 powered by the aforementioned processor. This is good news to those who want a more powerful handset. Moreover, Qualcomm announced that Snapdragon 810 is different from the current 805 chipset.

Android 5.0 Lollipop OS

The Android 5.0 Lollipop OS for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will reportedly be released next month. Although this does not bear much weight in deciding to delay buying the handset (since the operating system can still be downloaded once it becomes available), it's good to note that the current Lollipop OS is still plagued with bugs and issues. Google has not released a firm and stable version of the new OS yet so it would be best to wait a while and get a handset already equipped with a more stable operating system.

Bigger discounts on the phablet

The most convincing reason why one should hold off buying the latest Samsung phablet is because bigger discounts for the device are bound to surface soon.  During the holiday season, some vendors might give irresistible deals to match its rival, the iPhone 6 Plus. Also, the current model is expected to become more affordable in the near future once its successor is ready to be rolled out.
