Samsung is set to roll out the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS to its devices in the first quarter of 2015 after the release of the Samsung Galaxy S6.
Samsung is known for delivering the latest Android mobile software later than other manufacturers as it usually takes months before Samsung devices receive the new OS — that is, while other Android-based smartphones are already enjoying the perks of the latest Android version, Samsung devices are usually still running the previous version or two.
Basing on its previous releases, Samsung will most likely release a new device running with the new Android OS before rolling it out to other devices. This is the same case with the previous launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in September, which packed the Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The said OS was eventually delivered to other Samsung handsets.
Meanwhile, the South Korean company is already done with the Phase 1 of Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS update to its devices last month and this month. According to a status report published by justaboutphones.com, which shows the status of the roll out process, the G900I and G900F variants of Galaxy S5, Note 3 N900, and Note 3 LTE GN005 will receive the mobile software update this month, although some carriers already rolled out their version of the latest OS update.
The Galaxy S4 I9500, S4 LTE I9505 and Note 3 Neo, on the other hand, will receive the mobile OS next month as the updates were reportedly in the final testing stage. Lastly, S4 Mini Duos I9192, S4 Mini I9190, Grand 2 Duos G7102, Grand 2 G7105, Note 2 N7100 and Note 2 LTE N7105 are also lined up to receive the OS in November, most probably in the end of next month as its status is still pending.
Samsung is yet to reveal its official roadmap and timeline for the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS roll out.
