Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith are returning sometime in the near future with season 4 of "Rick and Morty." Questions have been buzzing around the internet but while the fourth season has been confirmed, specific details, as well as a release date, have yet to be revealed.

Season 3 ended on a somewhat happy note with Beth and Jerry reuniting and the Smith family coming together again. They're happy now, but they've had enough of Rick's shenanigans and just want to be a family. Rick, however, was disappointed by the fact that Morty put his foot down and that Beth was now protecting Jerry from his snide remarks and disapproval.

The craziness of season 3 ended on a peaceful note — a far-cry from the crazy adventures before it. It was a less crazy ending in comparison to season 2's cliffhanger but now, the fans of the series are wondering, what's next for the dynamic grandfather-grandson duo, Rick and Morty? If the Smiths are trying to be a happy normal family now, where will the series go? What will season 4 bring?

Fans have been trying to analyze season 3 in order to predict what's to come. Thankfully, the show's writers and creators have contributed by throwing in their own explanations.

Some of the speculations for season 4 include what will become of the Smith family, whether or not Rick will be able to make it up to them and fix his relationships, whether there will be a new villain and more. However, fans will have to wait a long time to see if these turn out to be true.

Soon after the season 3 credits started rolling, Mr. Poopybutthole appeared in a post-credits scene to announce season 4's eventual return, saying, "See you for season four, in like a very long time." He made the announcement by breaking the fourth wall as he enjoyed a nice dinner with his wife and child.
