'Rick and Morty' season 3 premiere date, spoilers: preview teases a little gore

Rick and Morty Adult Swim

"Rick and Morty" season 3 still has not official release date but it was teased during this year's San Diego Comic Con. Showrunners Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland did manage to release a short clip of unfinished footage, showcasing what appears to be a rough, gory and violent sequence where Rick is trying to escape a prison lab.

The sequence starts by showcasing an altered Rick, who appears to have the body akin to a cockroach, trying to saw off one of the bars of his prison. It attracts a large rat to which Rick activates a trap, decapitating the rat. As more rats come in and start gnawing at the bars, Rick begins a mechanical sequence using the dead rat's head.

His machine allows him to remove the cockroach appendages and attach more powerful, synthetic limbs. He then attaches the dead rat's brain to his, allowing him to control the new limbs. He then goes on a violent rampage to kill all of the rats that have broken into his cell.

In regards to the violence, Harmon explained in a report from Collider that they do have a good relationship with the Standards and Practices department and know how to get around certain elements. While they cannot get too detailed with human violence, they can get away with alien violence by changing the colors of brains, blood and more.

"Well pink is the right color, can they be green or something? Can this creature's diarrhea be purple?" Harmon explained. "The sh*t and the sex stuff. That tends to be the thing they put their foot down on. Violence seems to be less and less an issue. Obviously gratuitous violence can be a problem but the sex stuff is real touchy."

Harmon and Roiland did not specify when season 3 would premiere but it is expected that the show might premiere by this August or September. When asked if they could be bringing in new guests, Harmon did explain in a separate report they wanted to include the late David Bowie and that the current goal is to get Vin Diesel in the show.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
