'Quantico' season 2 spoilers: Alex discovers dangerous conspiracy

Quantico ABC

The official synopsis for "Quantico" season 2 has been released, via Entertainment Weekly, and it reveals that the show won't be focusing on the FBI anymore as Alex (Priyanka Chopra) gets recruited into the CIA. However, as she trains to become a spy, she discovers a global conspiracy that not only affects the lives of Americans but those around the world.

"As Alex navigates the dark world of espionage, far different and more dangerous than what she's learned before, she's pulled into the center of a deadly conspiracy that not only threatens the lives of this country's citizens, but the lives of countless others across the globe," reads the official synopsis.

It also states that the conspiracy will force Alex to look in more carefully at everyone around her, from those within the CIA and even those she once knew at the Bureau. It is hinted that this means something sinister is brewing from within the CIA and FBI offices and she'll be the only one aware of how broad the conspiracy is and how dangerous it has become.

With the stakes escalating, now that the lives of people all around the world are involved, Alex will need to pull everything together in order to succeed but according to a report from Ecumenical News there is one factor that could lead to her fall: her love interest.

The report points out that Alex will be moving forward with her relationship with Ryan (Jake McLaughlin) despite the fact they are both out of the Academy. However, with new cast members joining it is speculated she will get involved with someone else and this could lead to something unexpected or downright destructive.

Joining Chopra and McLaughlin for season 2 include Johanna Braddy who portrays Shelby and Yasmine Al Massri who plays the twins Nimah and Raina. Newcomers to the show are Russell Tovey, Aaron Diaz and Pearl Thusi, who is playing a mysterious new character named Dayana Mampasi.

"Quantico" season 2 premieres this Sept. 25.
