A new "Pokemon" movie is set to release later this year, titled "Pokemon the Movie XY and Z: Volcanion and the Tricky Magearna" based on the Japanese title. A post on the official Pokemon website reveals that the film will introduce fans to the mythical pokemon known as Magearna, the first Pokemon known to be made by humans.

Known as the "Artificial Pokemon," Magearna is stated to have been created by man 500 years ago and that it has an entirely metallic body. According to the site, Magearna will be kept captive by a corrupt minister trying to harness Magearna's power in order to become the ruler of a mechanical kingdom full of cogs and gears.

The other legendary Pokemon previously revealed, Volcanion, will also make an appearance in the film. The synopsis states that Volcanion despises humans but will be forced to team up with Ash Ketchum in order to rescue Magearna from its captor. It is hinted that a magical force will bind Volcanion to Ash, preventing the two from separating.

Magearna stands 3 feet and 3 inches high and weighs 177.5 pounds.

"Pokemon XY and Z: Volcanion and the Tricky Magearna" will see the return of Ash, Pikachu, Serena, Jessie and James, Meowth, Clement and Bonnie. It is undetermined at this point if the movie will be considered part of the anime series' canon.

Fans will recall that the earlier movies were not considered as part of the series' storylines and the movies' plot had to be integrated and re-told in the anime.

According to a report from Anime News Network, the new film will release in Japan this coming July 16 although there are speculations of a Western release immediately following. The "Pokemon XY" anime series just began airing in the US while Japan has already moved ahead with the "Pokemon XY and Z" anime series.
