'Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire' news: New Legendary Pokemon Volcanio unveiled

The Pokemon Company has unveiled a brand new legendary Pokemon for "Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire" on the official Pokemon website. The new legendary, Volcanion, will be available soon and is touted as the franchise's very first water-fire type.

Because it is a combination of both water and fire, Volcanion is also referred to as the Steam Pokemon. It is described as a powerful Pokemon capable of "blowing away an entire mountain, gouging out the earth and changing the shape of the land" using the built-up steam and shock waves generated by both fire and water within the arm on its back.

Volcanion stands at just five feet high and weighs nearly 430 pounds, making it one of the smaller Legendary creatures in the "Pokemon" games, other than some of the human-sized Legendaries like Mew, Mewtwo and Diancie.

The new Pokemon cannot be captured normally within the game and is only obtainable through a mystery gift. However, Nintendo, The Pokemon Company or Game Freak has not yet announced when and how Volcanion can be acquired. What is certain is that Volcanion will be available for "Pokemon X and Y" as well.

Unfortunately, an exact list of its moveset has not yet been released but there is an official trailer showcasing Volcanion in action. There are a few moves that may be familiar to experts of the game. Both the fire and water abilities are showcased in the video.

According to a report from RPGFan, Volcanion's special ability will be Water Absorb. This allows Volcanion to restore a quarter of its max HP when hit with a water-based move. If its HP is already at max then the move will not deal any damage to Volcanion.

There are also speculations that this is another Legendary Pokemon that may get more attention in "Pokemon Z" but given that Nintendo has yet to confirm that "Pokemon Z" is even in development, this should still be treated purely as speculation.
