'Pitch Perfect 3' cast: Hailee Steinfeld set to return

Hailee Steinfeld as Emily Junk in Pitch Perfect 2 Universal Pictures

Almost right after "Pitch Perfect 2" hit theaters, the film became a massive financial hit, far more than its predecessor, and a sequel has already been green lit and is currently in development. Franchise originals Anne Kendrick and Rebel Wilson are set to return one more time, and now, a new report confirms that one more cast member is coming back.

According to a report from "On Air with Ryan Seacrest," Hailee Steinfeld confirmed that she is coming back as Emily Junk, the newest member that was introduced in "Pitch Perfect 2" and whose mother was a member of the Barden Bellas during her time in college.

When asked if she could share any details about the film, Steinfeld she stated, "Honestly, I know as much as you but I had such an amazing time making the sequel that before it even ended, I was like, 'If this ever happens again, I'm in.'"

Hailee's character Emily was a freshman when she was brought in for "Pitch Perfect 2" while Kendrick's crew were already in their senior year. If there is anything to take from Emily's return, it is possible that she will be taking the reins when the rest of the original characters graduate.

Steinfeld also got to speak about her debut single "Loving Myself" which is scheduled to be released on Aug. 7. According to the report, she was able to garner a record deal after several meetings with Republic Records music executive Charlie Walk.

"Pitch Perfect 3" is currently slated for a July 21, 2016 release but there are no other updates regarding the film's plot or characters. It is unknown at this point if either Elizabeth Banks or Jason Moore will return to helm the film but Kay Cannon, writer of the first two films, will return to pen the third entry in the franchise.
